Workshops

From July 2021 until Summer 2023 we’ll be hosting workshops for storytelling, self-expression, and pageant creation, across Miles Platting and Newton Heath.

These will cover:

  • What is a community folk pageant??!
  • Discussions on climate change, resilience, nature, food, waste, weather, community action 
  • Mapping neighbourhoods (walking, documenting, archives, geographical & biodiversity data)
  • Filming sessions on location in the ward (performance, costume, puppetry)
  • Workshops on creative writing for performance and narrative
  • Workshops on music and sound
  • Workshops for animations
  • Collecting and assembling found “stuff” or “trash” (visual and material culture) 
  • Puppetry making and performance techniques for exploring climate issues and actions 
  • Pageant events planning and preparation 
  • Legacy planning for community action and policy-making
